About the SFM
The Swiss Forum for Migration and Population Studies (SFM) is a research and training institute at the University of Neuchâtel. It participates in the teaching of the Master's Degree in Human and Social Sciences. With its specialism on "Migration and Citizenship" the institute offers an innovative module, unique in Switzerland.
The SFM is affiliated with the Centre for the Understanding of Social Processes (MAPS) at the University of Neuchâtel, contributing to the advancement and strengthening of interdisciplinary research on the circulation of people, capital and knowledge.
The SFM was founded in 1995, with the aim to contribute to pragmatic discussions on migration issues. Since then, the institute has completed over 200 studies financed by the Swiss National Science Foundation (SNSF) or funded by a range of federal, cantonal, communal, and private organisations. The SFM also participates actively in international research programmes.
